| After missing three games with an ankle injury, tight end Tony Moeaki caught six passes for 105 yards and two TDs, including a 42-yarder with 12:56 left in the fourth quarter that ended up being the winning points.

| #8 – Vandenberg to McNutt TD at Ohio State | |
| Freshman quarterback James Vandenberg added a feather to a terrific first college start when he fired a 10-yard bullet to Marvin McNutt. The score was tied at 24.

| Trailing by a touchdown at halftime, the Hawkeyes began the third quarter by turning an interception into a tying touchdown pass from quarterback Ricky Stanzi to tight end Tony Moeaki.

| Iowa (9-0 for the first time in its history) trailed by 14 points twice for its biggest deficit of the season before rallying with 28 fourth-quarter points. Two of those scores were long touchdown passes from Ricky Stanzi to Marvin McNutt (92 yards) and Darren Johnson-Koulianos (66 yards), the latter putting the Hawkeyes up 28-24 with 11:38 to play.

| Indiana fell victim to one of the more incredible interceptions ever seen at Kinnick Stadium — or anywhere — when safety Tyler Sash got his sixth pick of the season via a pass that bounced off several players from both teams before ending in his hands. He returned the pick for a score that cut Indiana’s lead to 21-14 in the third quarter and sparked the comeback.

| #3 – Game Winning Stanzi to McNutt at Michigan State | |
| Ricky Stanzi connected with Marvin McNutt for a 7-yard touchdown pass as time expired and No. 7 Iowa remained undefeated with a 15-13 victory against Michigan State. The Hawkeyes were 8-0 for the first time in school history and had sole possession of first place in the Big Ten.
